To say that I would like my little boy to like Parsnip is certainly an understatement! I have tried a few ways of serving Parsnip to my boy ..roasted ..puréed ..but had as of yet tried this simple and lovely way to enjoy them, sautéed in some oil and served heaped in a bowl with a sprinkling of fine Sea Salt. When I tried this method of cooking a few months ago and found to my delight that my little boy was willing to oblige a taste or two ..it did take him a few meals of offering them to actually get him to dig in but he is now quite happy to munch on handfuls of Parsnip Frites with Mom.
After I was able to get my little guy to become comfortable with the Parsnip Frites I decided to give Celeriac Root a go which has a very similar texture ..although it is a much different taste. This method of preparing them did not interfere with the delicate flavour of the Celeriac Root and produces a lovely crunchy and fun presentation. Just like the Parsnip Frites my little guy nibbled only a few before he eventually learned to appreciate their flavour. A happy new start to new flavours..
